Memorix or Latex: Which Is Better for a Mattress?

Today's mattress market is no longer limited to the familiar spring or multi-layer models. Latex or Memorix: that is the question facing anyone ready to try the newer technology.
Both materials have gone through a long series of improvements and each offers its own set of advantages. Which one is better? Let's try to work it out.
Memory foam, or Memorix
You could fairly call this material futuristic. Memorix follows the contours of the body very precisely, helping to hold it in an anatomically correct position through the night. What makes it distinctive is that it keeps that shape until you change position or get out of bed.
At the heart of Memorix is a foam made from a specially prepared polymer. Its qualities are:
- a precisely calibrated viscosity;
- enough elasticity to take repeated loads;
- the memory effect.
The foam returns to its original flat state on its own within a few seconds.
Latex models
Latex options come in two kinds:
- natural;
- made from a synthetic polymer.
Natural latex mattresses are made from a compound containing at least 20% natural rubber. That gives a high degree of stretch while allowing the material to return to its original state without trouble.
Latex options stand out for:
- durability and resistance to wear;
- excellent elasticity;
- a quick return to the original shape;
- a springy, supportive base.
Latex mattresses also stay cooler to sleep on.
Making the choice
Memorix or latex, which is better? It comes down to personal preference and the particulars of your body. Memory foam is ideal for couples: it absorbs movement well, so you will not feel your partner turning over in the night. On the other hand, Memorix can sag more and pushes back against the body less, which is useful if your back gives you trouble.
Latex, meanwhile, rules out any deformation of the surface thanks to its springiness. It is eco-friendly and suits people who change position often during the night. Latex does not absorb a partner's movement as effectively, though, and this kind of mattress weighs more than a foam one.
Memorix or latex, which is better for a mattress: the answer depends entirely on your individual requirements. For everyday needs, both are a good bet.
