Choosing a children's mattress: what to look for

When you are putting together a sleeping space for a child, the goal is maximum comfort and cosiness. Manufacturers today offer no end of models with playful design ideas – racing cars, carriages, animals. But healthy, restorative sleep depends on more than a good-looking bed: it depends on a quality, comfortable mattress. If that is what you are looking for, we invite you to buy a mattress in our online store at a sensible price.
Springless mattresses
There is a wide variety of fillings used in springless mattresses.
- Natural coconut coir with a little latex. The material is built on coconut fibers impregnated with natural latex. This filling is eco-friendly and fairly firm.
- Foam rubber. The most popular filling of all, because it is inexpensive. It is also environmentally sound, being made from water, polyol, polyurethane foam and catalysts. Its major downside is that the elasticity does not last.
- Natural latex. Sits in the mid to high price bracket. It is produced by foaming the sap of rubber trees. The material is eco-friendly, elastic and long-lasting, with excellent thermoregulating properties, and it follows the shape of the body.
- Synthetic latex. A type of foam rubber with improved performance characteristics.
Go by your own preferences here, because there is no single right answer.
Spring mattresses
Spring mattresses are classified by the type of spring unit inside them.
- Models with a dependent unit. The defining feature of these mattresses is that the springs are interconnected. Some manufacturers also build a steel frame to keep sleeping children safe and stop them falling out; the frame acts as a barrier. Models like these are very affordable.
- Models with an independent unit. They have orthopedic properties and keep a child's spine correctly aligned during rest. This construction rules out sagging. The mattresses are fairly heavy, so it is worth checking how sturdy the bed is first
This criterion is an individual matter too and comes down entirely to the buyer's preferences.
There is also a combined type, but it is less common and nowhere near as popular as the two above. We invite you to find and buy the best mattress with an orthopedic effect on our website.
